Crazy Day

Today it was Crazy Day! We  dressed in funny, outragous costumes. We walked around the hall showing off our crazy outfits to the other children. The craziest costume winners from Room 7 were Briar and Jaxson. After the parade we had a 'Dance Off'. We all did our craziest dancing. Malinda was the winner from our class. We thought Crazy Day was hilarious and we all had lots of fun.

We would like to say a big thank you to Miss Simpson and the Student Council for organising such a crazy, fun day.

Some Expert Advice

Last week some children worked with Miss Simpson and Room 6 to make a video - Preparing Your Child for School. The video contains the skills and behaviours children need when they start school. The children from Room 7 were the stars and the Room 6 children put the movie together.
Thank you Miss Simpson and Room 6 for all your help.

Our Visiter - The Policeman

This week we have been learning to about the Letter P and how to ask questions. On Friday we had a special visitor - Constable Lynch

These are some of the questions we asked:

When do you work?
How do you catch a criminal?
Where did you train to be a policeman?
Where is the police station?
Where do you keep your police car?
What are some of the things you need to carry?

We wrote a story together about our special visitor.

Constable Lynch
On Friday Constable Lynch came to visit us. He showed us all the equipment he has to carry. We looked at the handcuffs, the baton and the torch. We all tried a police t-shirt and a hat on. We made our very own police badge. We learnt lots about policeman and what they do. What a fun day!

Thank you Constable Lynch for visiting us today.

Thank you Student Council for organising this day. We are really excited about it.

Thinking Hats

Our big book this week is:

On Wednesday it was raining. We decided to use the Thinking Hats to organise our thinking about the rain. We used the yellow hat to think of all the good things about the rain, the black hat for all the bad things about the rain and the red hat for how we feel about the rain.
Here are all of our ideas.

Shoo Fly

This week our big book was called 'Shoo Fly'.

Carlo had a problem. There was a fly buzzing around his kitchen and he couldn't catch it. Room 7 thought of some solutions. We wrote Carlo a letter to give him some suggestions on how to catch flies.

Here is our letter:

To Carlo,

We have just read 'Shoo Fly' We know that flies can be very frustrating. We have some suggestions to help you solve your problem.
Solution 1: Use some fly spray.
Solution 2: Use a fly trap.
We hope you can catch the flies.

Digital Microscope

We used the digital microscope to look closely at some bugs.
We took a photo of a caterpillar. The caterpillar is black and has an orange line down the middle. It is also very hairy.
If you have any bugs at home that we could look could you please send them along to school? Thank you.

Our Cloakbay

We have been working on keeping our cloak bay tidy. We need to make sure everything is put away in our bag and our shoes are lined up neatly. Doesn't it look super tidy! Well done Room 7.
